Introduce yourself to the joy of acrylic painting!

Join David Bottini to learn the basics of acrylic painting in this introductory class. This class is recommended for anyone who is interested in learning the fundamentals of acrylic painting but hasn’t had much experience yet. Students will complete an underpainting using a traditional technique called Grisaille (pronounced Gree-ZAY). Working first with pencil and paper, students will learn basic drawing and value techniques, focused on composition, as a preparation for a full-color painting. Using the Grisaille technique, students will complete an achromatic/monochromatic underpainting which will transition over the course into a full color acrylic painting. David’s teaching typically includes information on composition balance, pictorial space, glazing techniques, and color mixing.

Class Dates: Tuesdays, June 22 – July 13

Times: 2 – 3:30pm

About the teacher:

David Bottini brings over 33 years of experience teaching art and a lifetime working as a professional artist to teaching beginner and emerging artists. He studied painting at the The Rhode Island School of Design, The Maryland Institute, and earned his MFA from The Savannah College of Art & Design.

Bottini’s paintings are featured in national art publications and his paintings are exhibited and collected throughout the United States. He has been part of the Cumberland Valley Juried Exhibit for 2018, 2019 and was the Peoples Choice award recipient for the 2018 and 2019 Cumberland Valley Exhibit. His work is on exhibit locally at Bridge Gallery in Shepherdstown, WV.
