Come and learn how to paint with gouache! It is a wonderful paint. Gouache is water-soluble and combines the best of both acrylics and watercolors that is fairly easy to use. It can act like watercolor paint when thinned with enough water. Unlike watercolor, it can be painted from dark to light as well as light to dark. Gouache contains a lot of pigment, and it is thick and opaque like acrylic paint. Unlike acrylic paint that once dry cannot be reworked, gouache permits you to return more than a day later and alter the paint. Gouache is so versatile! You can do the following:
Work with other media to produce mixed media art such as watercolor pencils, charcoal, markers or colored pencils
Rework dry areas
Use dry brush techniques
Direct color blending
Use as watercolor paint
Layering
Wet-on-Dry and Wet-on-Wet
Create gradients
Gouache is one of the easier types of paints to learn how to handle. It is easy to set up, clean up and with a limited palette, you can mix many colors.
In this workshop, you will learn some basic techniques for working with gouache. You will create this lovely painting using colors of your own choosing. Drawing skills are not necessary as you can trace the entire image or certain elements of the image you wish to paint onto watercolor paper. This workshop is focused on gouache painting techniques. Come join us and learn and have fun!
